Yes, I know that Zo’or wasn’t the one who sabotaged Kincaid’s shuttle, but it works so much better than Doors!

Alternate Dimensions
By Valerie Duffner <v_voltaire@yahoo.com>

Zo’or cast a typically evil look as he stared at the datastream of Kincaid’s shuttle taking off. In just a few moments it would take off into interdimensional and then Kincaid would forever cease to interfere with Zo’or’s plans. Let someone else deal with that pest, Zo’or thought. Zo’or gave a momentary thought to the notion that there might be another Zo’or in the dimension Kincaid was being sent to. He pitied the hypothetical other-him the trouble of dealing with Kincaid. No Zo’or in any dimension should have to bother with him.

Zo’or dismissed these idle musings from his mind so he could fully appreciate what was going on. In just a few moments Kincaid would be gone forever. As the shuttle went into interdimensional Zo’or mentally wished Kincaid an unpleasant journey, and hoped that Kincaid would land on a particularly dreadful dimension, preferably one where the Taelons had forced Earth into submission, one populated by uncivilized gorilla-like animals, or at least one in which soap hadn’t been invented.

Zo’or spent the next two minutes in a good mood. His good mood was broken when Kincaid’s shuttle reemerged from interdimensional. Zo’or’s fiery temper flared up, and the temperature around him physically raised a degree. If he were a cartoon, steam would have come out of his ears. However, as he was only Taelon, he could merely fume inwardly. Outwardly he was forced to act as if everything was in order.

Kincaid had the audacity to report that he had experienced a “bumpy ride” and that the interdimensional controls should be checked. Zo’or had the reports brought directly to him before anyone else reviewed them. That was when Zo’or made one of the most frightening discoveries of his lifetime: Kincaid’s shuttle had made the one way trip to an alternate dimension. The only trouble was this: Zo’or’s dimension was Kincaid’s alternate dimension.

Zo’or recalled his reminiscing about his alternate reality Zo’ors. Suppose there were more dimensions than previously thought. What if each dimension was practically the same as its neighboring dimensions, with just a few small changes? What if his other Zo’ors were just as clever as he was, and had concocted the same devious plan?

Zo’or began to understand the trouble humans had with “headaches”. This disturbing knowledge was making him dizzy. He thought a few choice things about his alternate dimension Zo’ors for ruining his plot, then realized that they were probably thinking the same thing about him at the same moment. He cast these thoughts from his head and began to think of another plan to rid himself of Kincaid. This task was proving itself to be a long and arduous chore.
